New Year's Resolutions: How to last longer

Don’t be confused, this article is about sticking to the plans you have made for the New Year. If you haven’t already made a plan for your resolution, you may be on track for failing. Yes, it’s another New Year and millions of people make declarative statements about things they will change about themselves. Overwhelmingly, 70% of those resolutions are about health or weight loss. Having resolutions to be a better version of you is a good thing, but lack of planning causes many to barely get started before eventually quitting.
To implement your self-improvement plans by New Years, the preparation for these changes would have to start months before. Believe it or not, most of the preparation starts with having the right mindset for making these changes. This is a step, which by itself, could take several months. First you think about thinking about making certain changes and then you’re still several steps away from being prepared to implement your plan. You know you’re ready when you can think in detail about the changes you want to make. After getting the right mindset, you will be able to sit down and write out the realistic steps required to get from point A to Z. The key is making sure your steps consist of short- term achievable goals that are S.M.A.R.T. In order to ensure that you will be able to track your progress toward meeting your goals, start with goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. Meeting your long-range goals merely consists of meeting several short-range goals over time. Although, you put a lot time and energy into developing a plan, you may still need to seek professional help from personal trainers, dieticians etc.
Lastly, you need to be ready to make a lifestyle change and then be consistent with living the new lifestyle daily. The thing that started out as a New Year’s resolution, turned into a new lifestyle. The best part about going through this process is understanding the steps needed for making better lifestyle choices in other areas of your life. And you won’t have to wait until New Year’s Day to get started.

Best of luck with all your goals!
